Bromine analytics for salt deposits/caverns
The storage of natural gas in Northern German salt domes and caverns plays an increasing role in energy policy. For this purpose, geological information (salt stratigraphy) about the encountered evaporites is important for the further development of the cavern.
For characterization of salt deposits / salt domes and for stratigraphical classification of salt sequences, geochemical analytical methods have obtained more and more importance. Bromine, rubidium and strontium are of special interest for the investigation of rock salt, gipsum and anhydrite.
The Bromine content is deemed to be a measuring index for the grade of concentration in the mother-base, from which the salt had precipitated.
