During a GRT, a defined thermal output is being put against the terrestrial heat prob. Then, the resulting flow of the entering and escaping temperatures at the terrestrial heat probe is being logged.

The average heat conductivity and the thermal borehole resistance are being defined. On the basis of these data and with the help of special software (Earth Energy Designer, EED), probe fields and probe lengths can be configured for the thermal services requested from the client.
